eXaCradle SBRT Stereotactic System

Stereotactic Multidampening SBRT System

eXaCradle SBRT stereotactic system is the only that allows to customize the compression to each tumor location, through a set of 7 compressions (Multi-dampening). In addition, it is compatible with 3T resonance, making it an optimal system for treating kidney, liver and pancreas injuries.

SBRT systems have hardly evolved in the last 30 years and most of them just allow to apply a single diaphragmatic compression or pneumatic abdominal compression. However, there are many clinical situations where the application of this type of compressions offers inconsistent results in terms of reduction of tumor movement, reproducibility or toxicity:

  • Gauthier Bouilhol et al. Phys Med. 2013. Is abdominal compression useful in lung stereotactic body radiation therapy? A 4DCT and dosimetric lobe-dependent study (ver documento).
  • Van Gelder R. et al. J Med Radiat Sci. 2018. Experience with an abdominal compression band for radiotherapy of upper abdominal tumours (ver documento).
  • Vikren Sarkar, PhD. et al.  J. Radiosurg SBRT. 2016. Dosimetric evaluation of abdominal compression as a method to reduce the incidence of radiation-induced pneumonitis in lung SBRT treatment (ver documento).

eXaCradle, by personalizing the compression or Multi-Dampening Technique, allows adapting the compression to all those situations where abdominal or diaphragmatic compression does not offer consistent results, especially in kidney, pancreatic, liver, upper lobe, middle lobe or patients with abnormal breathing patterns, etc. This technique will allow us to reduce the tumor movement below 0.7 – 1 mm in most cases.

Further, the system offers an excellent reproducibility in order to apply minimal IGRT corrections. In addition, being a stereotactic system, it does not require the use of seeds to locaze the tumor, which reduces the risk of toxicities derived from the use of fiduciary markers.

eXaCradle Modules:

The system incorporates the following three modules:

  • Module for thorax positioning and immobilization: designed to reduce thorax mobility and to maintain patient arms in a comfortable and reproducible position.
  • Thoracic and diaphragmatic compression module: it is formed by an arch with three compression points that can be applied with different angulations (cranial or caudal). This arch can also be indexed in different positions longitudinally and vertically.
  • Stereotactic module for retroperitoneal and lateral compression: this module incorporates four compression points (two lateral and two retro-abdominal) essential for the approach of the lesions located in the abdominal area and to offer reproducibility. In addition, it incorporates a stereotactic system of radiolucent rules to locate the tumor.
